Took some pics of how it’s put together with the 90* elbow that comes off the manifold collector. The fasteners are money, will never come undone.
…race car?
.. well I’m sick of the wall of blue behind me, so I pulled the turbo and sure enough, it’s leaking oil past the seal into the turbine housing. No oil in the compressor housing. No residue in the wastegate/turbo manifold/dump tube. Definitely sad panda… Let’s see if Comp steps up and addresses the issue.
Head lift at 19-20psi and pushing coolant… that’s how. Had to tear the top end down and torque those head studs down like a boss to keep the head planted. Turns out ARP stud specs aren’t sufficient when you’re pushing 700hp.
Time to mix up the boost control… 4 port MAC solenoid and 3psi/5psi WG springs.
…. ruined my dyno day. I did hit 380 ft lbs to the wheels before my engine bay turned into old faithful…
Cleaned up the injector harness a bit… see before (first) and after (second).
No more getting yanked from lane to lane…
Well we found my 4th gear engagement issue… 4th gear syncro was worn to hell, even though it was brand new… Stock syncro going in now, 4tw. OEM syncro is on the left, Gearspeed 4th is on the right. Note how it’s completely worn off… We also have the tranny masta at work.
Just got them back and put the BOV back on.
Check out that wear on the 2nd gear engagement teeth (next to 3rd gear on the left for reference). That’s 61k miles and over 100 track passes.
Safe to say my kit has the shortest charge pipes out of any 8th gen turbo kit. 3″ charge pipes at that. GO Power 4tw. Top to bottom: cold side, hot side, 3.5″ intake.
Ooohhh yeah.
Oh yeah… still got a bit of work to do though.
Gallery will get updated as I get new pics…
Few more pics.
Big thank you to Deatschwerks for supplying two fuel pumps for the build!
Just got these photos from GO Power Motorsports. More to come!
After waiting and waiting on a BorgWarner turbo that never showed up… we finally decided to go with a custom Comp Turbo (CT43-6467). It’s arrived within just a week after ordering. Here it is sitting at GO Power!
